Build A Ring Farm: Mutations Guide
All 9 mutations explained: multipliers from 1.5x to 6.5x, spray prices, event triggers, and how to stack them for maximum profit.
Quick Summary
Complete breakdown of all 9 mutation types with visual multiplier bars, spray prices, event trigger chances, and stacking formulas. A Golden mutation (6.5x) on Ring 3 with Saw Lv5 produces 1,235x base income — this guide shows you exactly how to get there. Includes which mutations to target at each game stage and when buying sprays is worth the cost vs waiting for free events.
Important Rules
Mutations cannot stack— a plant can only have one mutation at a time. You must be online during events for mutations to apply to your plants.
Removing Mutations
Want to change your mutation? Buy Acid Spray for $1M from the Gear Shop to remove any existing mutation. Then you can apply a new spray or wait for a new event!
How Mutations Work
Once a crop is mutated, the income multiplier is permanent and works both online and offline. Mutations range from 1.5x (Frost) to 6.5x (Golden) and multiply with all other bonuses.
Each crop can only hold one mutation. New mutations overwrite old ones. This means you should aim to get the highest-value mutation on your best crops and avoid accidentally replacing them.
Mutations can be triggered by weather events (free, random, requires being online) or by spray items purchased from the Gear Shop (paid, guaranteed, can be used anytime).
Mutation multipliers stack with Ring, Saw, and Seed multipliers. A 6.5x Golden mutation on Ring 3 (19x) with Saw Lv5 (10x) gives 1,235x base income per crop.
Mutation Optimization Strategy
Golden mutation (6.5x) should be reserved for your highest-income seeds on Ring 3. Don't waste it on cheap seeds. One Golden Cosmic Halo on Ring 3 can out-earn 10 unmutated crops combined.
Sprays cost real coins. The same Golden Spray that gives 6.5x on Ring 1 (7x) only produces 45.5x income, but on Ring 3 (19x) it produces 123.5x. Always wait for Ring 3 before buying expensive sprays.
If you have a Crystal (4.5x) or Golden (6.5x) mutation on a crop, be careful during weather events. Events can overwrite existing mutations with lower-value ones. Consider this when deciding whether to stay online.
Before buying sprays, try farming weather events first. Stay online for 2-3 hour sessions and let random events apply mutations. This is free and can result in high-value mutations with patience.
Build A Ring Farm Mutations Guide
Mutations are the most powerful income multiplier system in Build A Ring Farm. Each mutation permanently boosts a single crop's income by a fixed multiplier, ranging from 1.5x for common Frost mutations to 6.5x for the rare Golden mutation. Unlike other bonuses, mutations are permanent and continue to multiply your earnings even while offline, making them the best long-term investment for any farm.
There are 9 different mutation types in Build A Ring Farm, each triggered by specific weather events or purchasable sprays. The key strategy is understanding which mutations to target and when to use sprays versus waiting for free events. Early game players should focus on free event mutations, while endgame players should invest in Golden Spray ($5M) for their Ring 3 crops, where the 6.5x multiplier produces the highest absolute returns.
